DigiCell at 247th ECS Meeting

In mid-May, two DigiCell teams, the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Université de Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV), set out across the Atlantic Ocean to attend the 247th ECS Meeting in Montreal, Canada.

Irshad Mohammad from AIT presented the institute’s exciting results on Mg powder-based electrode processing in his presentation entitled “Development of a Protective Inorganic Interface for Using Metallic Mg Anodes in Next-Generation Mg-Ion Batteries (MAGNIFICO)”.

For UPJV, Francisco Fernandez gave two stimulating talks focusing on the work he is performing on multi-fidelity modelling of different steps of the battery manufacturing process in the DigiCell project:

  • A Simple Transfer Learning Approach Applied to Small Experimental Li-Ion Electrode Manufacturing Datasets
  • Physics-Assisted Machine Learning for a Battery Electrode Manufacturing Process Simulation

As the cherry on the cake, Alejandro Franco from UPJV received the Battery Division Whittingham Mid-Career Award! The award was established in 2024 to recognize mid-career achievement and contributions to the field of electrochemical energy storage Congratulations to Alejandro! We are very proud.

The ECS Meetings bring together scientists, engineers, and researchers from academia, industry, and government laboratories around the globe. The meeting programme combines electrochemical and solid-state science and technology and provides an opportunity to exchange among peers with regard to scientific and technical developments in a variety of interdisciplinary areas.
