2nd DigiCell Public Workshop held successfully

DigiCell’s 2nd public workshop on “Battery cell testing, modelling and materials characterisation” was successfully held online on 25 February 2025, bringing together experts in battery research, testing, and modelling.

The workshop started with an invited keynote lecture by Prof. Wolfgang Schoefberger (JKU Linz) on CO2 capture technologies and Zn-air batteries, which was followed by a discussion on the technology readiness level of this research and unique selling points.

Key presentations from within the DigiCell consortium included:

  • Overview of the DigiCell project by the coordination team from Keysight Technologies
  • Battery module characterization and test ontology (Keysight Technologies).
  • Battery cell and nanoscale materials characterization (JKU Linz).
  • Decomposition products from battery electrolytes (Austrian Institute of Technology).

From over 70 registrants, we had approx. 35 attending actively, including representatives from the European Commission, highlighting the relevance of the discussions to ongoing Horizon EU initiatives. The workshop also raised interest with renowned research institutions as well as the industry.

The event enabled discussions on advanced battery testing methodologies, bridging research and industrial applications. We thank all speakers and participants for their valuable contributions and are looking forward to future engagements.
